See the Book of some of My Equine Artwork
This is how my panel looked when it arrived. Unlike many of the other artists, I had no set shapes to deal with, so I am fairly free to compose what I want. I just need to keep the basic color and tone. My first impression was moonlight and water, with dream-like or ghost-like horses galloping toward me.
Next step was to draw the horses. I drew each horse individually, then put them on transparent (tracing) paper and arranged them until I was happy with the composition.
Then, it was time to start painting. First, I wanted to set the preliminary background. Fairly pleased to this point.
And now, the horses begin to appear.
The third horse has rounded the bend, now its time to adjust and 'tweek' the painting.
Well, I believe it is done. I have to 'live' with it for a while to be sure, but I think I have managed to put to panel the image that was drifting around in my head. Keep and eye on the Mural web site to see it take shape. Look for #225 in the bottom left hand corner!
